July 28th and 30th. We are speaking with Ale Giannini, a 3rd generation tango composer and musician from Buenos Aires and the grandson of famed Argentine tango composer Jose Lanzo.
These days Ale finds himself always composing, always whistling a nameless tune while walking around his native city. Those whistles and wanderings have coalesced on Cross A La Mandibula, a sonic novel that takes you with him through modern day Buenos Aires. This ain't his grandfather's tango- it's a compendium of urban pop/tango songs delivered in a transgenerational style, grouped together in a conceptual album that merges the universes of contemporary urban pop with the imagery of Buenos Aires, its literature and its music.
Tune in to Global Ginga to hear the full interview. We air on Tuesdays at 6pm and Thursdays at 2 pm - Pacific Time.
